MEET ME
MY BACKGROUND AND APPROACH
Mind and body connection is one of the main portals to gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves. I utilize Somatic Experiencing and Mindfulness to help support my clients build safety and connection to their bodies to support their healing and growth process.
I am deeply committed to obtaining consent and feedback from my clients to ensure they are getting their needs met in our time together. It takes courage to show up as one's authentic self and to be vulnerable; I do not take that lightly! It is an honor to witness your pain, grief and joys. You are in control over what happens in our therapy space. I will validate the hell out of you and also provide reality checks when needed. Your feelings are real and they need space AND we can explore new ways of being in the world.
We'll be a good fit for one another if you appreciate direct feedback that has a softness to it. If you are ready to consistently show up and feel. I actively strive to dismantle beliefs that have been socialized in me that are harmful to others and myself. In the therapy space I create, I will often "punch up" at systems of oppression that hurt us all.
My clients tend to be sex workers, those struggling with eating disorders/disordered eating, non-monogamous, kinky and LGBTQIA+ populations. You do not have to hold one of these identities to work with me. All of the work I do is from a trauma-informed lens rooted in the framework of Liberation Psychology.
In our time together individual therapy we can explore topics of:
trauma
depression/anxiety
values misalignment
self-judgement/inner critic
systems of oppression
characteristics of white supremacy
community building
how feelings and emotions manifest in your body
your relationship to movement, eating, your body
gender identity and presentation
Therapy modalities I use include: Somatic Experiencing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, Liberation Psychology.
CUTE THINGS ABOUT ME
My name is Elizabeth (she/her). I am originally from the Midwest; I grew up outside of Chicago. I moved to Portland during my graduate programming internship and lived there for 9 years -- I decided to relocate to Southern California in 2022.
I love laughing at my own jokes, weightlifting, my two cats, getting my nails done, dissociating into TikTok, having an attitude problem, astrology, changing my hair, community organizing and garden projects.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in the state of Oregon. (This means I can only see clients who are located/living in the state of Oregon.) I've been honing in on my craft of therapy since 2019.
